Meridia was established in 1988, thanks to an idea of three friends engaged in social work, but in different fields: a biodynamic farmer, a director of non-lucrative associations, a dairy sales coordinator. By combining their experiences, a company was set up dedicated to the sale of herbs, spices and medicinal plants.
In 2003, the burgeoning growth of Meridia made it necessary to find new and consistent funds, without losing contact with the company, but rather strengthening experience and working with even more dynamism thanks to the merger with S.E.D.A., an Emilia company specialised in the marketing of sugars and sugar by-products.
Initially Meridia was a wholesaler, but soon became a direct importer to cater for market demands and the growing need to establish relations with farming concerns, many of which located beyond European Community borders.
Today Meridia completes its offer by also operating as a processor, thanks to linked facilities, to cater for the pressing demand for special cuts and processing in the field of herbs, spices and dehydrated vegetables. Our experience has also resulted in export market development in view of the fact that, in terms of agriculture, Italy is still number one in Europe.
